Cathy Lutes Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 22, 2025.
Cathy Formosa Lutes peacefully passed away on October 18, 2025. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Sue Formosa, and her sister Cindi Allingham. She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband, Bob, daughter Catie, son-in-law Josh (who loved her cooking, even the stuffed olives!), beloved son Robert (Bobby) B. Lutes III, and daughter-in-law Katie Barker.

She also leaves behind her treasured twin grandsons, Luke and Ben, who lovingly called her "Grammie," and many family and friends- siblings Karen, Carol and Michael, and their families, special cousins Kelly and Kim, and her best f-ramily: the OIB Fam and Vino Girls.

Cathy was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she always called home, even after her and Bob created a life in the cities of Chicago, Toledo and Charlotte - where they spent many happy years building a family.

Cathy was always very proud of her family and especially proud of herself when later in life, she studied day and night for her Series 7 License. She passed the exam, all while raising her children.

She loved Elvis and Eric Church, Wheel of Fortune, cooking, and the Holiday Season; which she always made magical for her family. Above all, she treasured time with those she loved, but mostly with her husband Bob, who often referred to her as his "Dream Girl." She was a fantastic wife and mother who had a gentle soul…except when it came to spiders! Bob always took care of those for her - one of the many ways he protected and loved her until the very end.

She fought the good fight and now will hear "Celebrate Me Home" every day. Her family will miss her tremendously.

A private Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Tunnels to Towers (t2t.org) or honor her by celebrating the things she loved the most.
