Cathy McWilliams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tyler M. Woods Funeral Director from Sep. 28 to Sep. 29, 2023.
Cathy Elaine McWilliams, 69, Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at her home. She was born April 15, 1954 in Lamar, Missouri, a daughter of the late Arthur Clinton and Dorothy Marie (Feezell) McConnell.

She grew up as an animal-loving country girl in Greenfield, Missouri, and was a 1972 graduate of Greenfield High School. She was married to her "honey-bunny" Michael McWilliams on November 24, 1982, and spent decades living in Jefferson City, where she retired from a 26-year career with the Missouri Department of Economic Development in 2008. After 37 years of marriage, Michael died in 2019.

She enjoyed family, traveling (Florida beaches were her ultimate vacation destination), and going to concerts (Elvis was her lifelong favorite), and her two little dogs Kelly and Coby were her whole world.

Cathy is survived by her sisters: Cleo Vaughn of Greenfield, Sue McConnell of Lockwood, and Lou Miller of Springfield; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family. Her brother Cletis McConnell of Greenfield died just a few days after her own death.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Clinton and Dorothy; sister: Christine Dickerson; and husband: Michael McWilliams. Cathy deeply missed her husband, Michael, and confidently awaited the day they would be reunited and together again.

As per her wishes, no formal service is planned, but her and Michael's ashes will be scattered somewhere very special to them.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Jefferson City Animal Shelter, who is lovingly working to find a new home for Kelly and Coby.

Arrangements for Ms. McWilliams are under the direction of TYLER M. WOODS FUNERAL DIRECTOR, 611 E. Capitol Ave. Jefferson City, Missouri 65101. (573) 636-2424.
