Cathy Scott Parent

 

Cathy Scott Parent, passed away on December 20, 2023, at the age of 74. Cathy was born in Ogden, UT on December 7, 1949 to Elva Matlock and Russell Robert Scott.

Cathy found joy in the simple pleasures of life—whether it was whipping up delicious meals in the kitchen or sharing a laugh with her beloved pets, whom she treated like her own children. Her place was always filled with the comforting hum of audiobooks or one of her many silly melodies.

Cathy leaves behind her feline companion, Pickle, who will undoubtedly miss her warm presence. She is survived by her son, Dustin Parent, daughter Mary Parent, step-sons, James and Buddy Smith, step-daughter, Kristee Haslip, and her loving sister, Chris Matlock. Her fourteen outstanding grandchildren and three beautiful great-grandchildren—Jessi, Gabrielle, Anjelina, Alexandria, Noelle, Lilee, Robert, Jazelle, Lily, Corra, Jacob, Vincent, Jay, Ali, Robbie, Freya, and Evelynn—will forever carry the echoes of her creative and entrepreneurial spirit.

Cathy was preceded in death by her mother Elva Matlock, stepfather Albert Matlock, and partner Willard Smith.

A small graveside service will take place at 12 pm on January 2nd at Lindquist Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that attendees consider contributing to her granddaughter Jessi to help cover funeral costs—an opportunity to honor Cathy's wishes.
