Cathy Doreen Southerland

Cathy Doreen Southerland was born in Borger, Texas to Thomas Edward Harris and Dorothy Louise Harris.

Cathy who was a woman of profound compassion and boundless love, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026 surrounded by the family who adored her.

Cathy’s life was a song. Known for her beautiful voice and her heart for storytelling, she found joy in singing and writing. Whether she was lifting her voice in melody or putting pen to paper to capture the world’s beauty, Cathy’s creativity was a gift she shared freely with those around her.

More than her talents, Cathy will be remembered for her faithful and unwavering heart. She was a cornerstone of love for her family, offering a listening ear and a constant support. She moved through the world with a gentle grace that left everyone she met feeling seen and valued.

She is survived by her daughters, Lisa Southerland Simmons, and Dana Southerland Ham and husband Christopher; sister, Brenda Carr and husband Jim; sister-in-law, Lela Harris; seven grandchildren, Sean Simmons, Ryan Simmons, Kelly Simmons, Courtney Vardeman and husband Kyle, Christina Morales and husband Arturo, Caden Ham and wife Kasandra, and Kiley ham; and 12 great-grandkids who will continue to carry her melodies in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her wonderful husband, Weldon Southerland who passed in 2011; her parents, Thomas E. Harris and Dorothy Louis Harris; and her brother, Jerry Edward Harris.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements and cremation are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo.
