Cecelia Hall Murray passed away on February 28, 2026 in Durham, NC after a long battle with cancer. Cecelia was born on October 6, 1955 in Takoma Park, MD and raised in Hyattsville, MD.
A life-long music lover, Cecelia worked for BMG, a major record label. She enjoyed going to concerts and had an enviable record collection. She was a talented baker and chef, as anyone who had the privilege of eating her Ricotta Cheesecake could attest. She had a big heart, which she shared with her family and her many friends, both old and new.
She and her husband Tim moved to NC about 20 years ago. They bought a house that was built in 1913 and have made Durham their home. Cecelia was deeply embedded in Durham's community of makers and artists. She could be found at many local craft festivals, including her weekly appearances at the Durham Craft Market (in cold, or rain, or hot, humid NC summers). Her business, Seasaw Crafts, was focused on linoleum block printing that showcased her artistic talents and love of re-use. She enjoyed repurposing fabric and creating useful new items, such as aprons and tote bags.
She is survived by her husband Timothy V. Murray and her siblings Albert W. Hall III (wife Paula and daughter Kaitlan), Marian Carroll (husband Rob Carroll), Susan Nern (husband Charlie Nern and son Brian), Dolores Hall (partner John Clauser), David Hall (wife Joy Hall, children Jessica Hall-Burns, David Hall, Jr., and Thomas Hall), Laura Baguio (husband Mike Baguio), and Christopher Hall (wife Kim Hall, son Chris Hall, Jr.).
She was preceded in death by her parents Albert Wilford Hall, Jr. and Marian Ann Gardiner.
Her final resting place will be the Bluestem Conservation Cemetery.
