Cecelia Marguerite Smile, May 1, 1946 – August 30, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cecelia Marguerite Smile on August 30, 2024 at the age of 78. Cecelia was born in Kingston, Jamaica and spent her formative years surrounded by her brothers and sisters on their family’s chicken farm.
Cecelia lived a vibrant life and her passions included a love of music, dancing, scuba diving and even motorbikes. While many activities captured her attention, her family was always her highest priority.
Cecelia valued education and after graduating from Camperdown High School in Jamaica, she went on to complete her studies at Trinity College in Washington D.C.
Cecelia was a true renaissance woman who’s career included a position at the United Nations (U.N.), direct sales, real estate, and also a teaching position at a community college.
Cecelia leaves behind her son (David J. Smile), her daughter-in-law (Heather R. Smile), and her granddaughter (Kailani N. Smile).
She is also survived by her brothers (Edward Shaw and Michael Shaw) as well as her sister (Winsome Clarke).
She was preceded in death by her parents (Edward William Shaw and Essie May Chang Shaw) and her sisters (Pamela Tully and Beverly Barkoye).
Despite health challenges, Cecelia fought hard and lived life to the fullest extent. She developed enduring relationships with all those that she loved and her memory is cherished.
Her life will be celebrated at 1000 hrs (MT) on 22 September 2024 at Horan & McConaty (County Line), 5303 E. County Line Rd. Centennial, CO 80122.
