Norman Shelton Obituary

Norman DeWayne Leo Shelton, born on August 18, 1934, age 91, died in his home in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, on January 26, 2026. Known for his kindness, curiosity, and passion for life, he served in the U.S. Air Force. He later graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. With his engineering knowledge and passion for cars, he worked for several companies that benefited from his expertise. American Motors, Tecumseh Motors, and Harley-Davidson were some of his favorites. Another passion was architecture, which led him to design and build his family home, as well as several other one-of-a-kind homes. He was an avid cyclist who participated in several Ride the Rockies tours and had yearly family ski trips to the mountains. He loved the outdoors, and after retiring, he used his design skills to pursue landscaping, designing, and building decks, bridges, ponds, and pathways.

He married his high school sweetheart, Dolores Jean Wenszell, born June 10, 1935, who passed away June 3, 2016. Norman is survived by his son, Gregory, his daughter, Christine, and her husband John, and granddaughter Christa, along with his brother, Donald, eleven nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eva McIntire and Cyril Shelton. His family was central to his life, and their memories reflect his enduring love and legacy. Norman's contributions to his family and community continue to be cherished, and his spirit lives on through those he loved and inspired.
