Cecelia Smith passed away peacefully at Indigo Carolina Forest. Born in Boston, Massachusetts to Cecelia and James Linehan, Cecelia grew up in Brookline, Massachusetts, graduating from Brookline High School in 1954. She attended 2 years of college before joining the US Air Force in October 1956 where she met her husband of 62 years, the late Billy R. Smith. She raised six children, James, Cecelia, Billy Jr, Teresa, Alicia and Gregory.

She finished her degree at the University of Maryland completing her post graduate degree at Georgetown University. She began her educational profession as a history teacher in Prince George's County, retiring as a guidance counselor from Forrestville High School in (1998). She retired to Georgia where she went back to work at the local Greensboro high school as a guidance counselor before retiring again.

She moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 2018. She was a Rotarian, an avid golfer including coaching golf for high school teams, enjoyed singing in the church choir and quilting. Along with her six children, she had 19 grandchildren and many great grandchildren that she loved very much. She was a devout Catholic and will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery alongside her husband.
