CECELIA THORNTON

¶ CECELIA THORNTON ¶05/12/1936 - 03/12/2025 ¶ Cecelia Ann Thornton of Norman, Okla.,, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, in Norman at the remarkable age of 88. Born on May 12, 1936, in Prague, Okla., Cecelia was the daughter of Joseph Michael and Edith Esther (Irvine) Obsivac. ¶ Cecelia grew up in Prague and was a 1954 graduate of Prague High School. ¶ After high school, Cecelia made her home in Tecumseh and later Norman, touching countless lives along the way. ¶ Following high school, Cecelia embarked on a fulfilling career in the medical field, where she worked in the finance department at McBride Clinic and later Shawnee Medical Clinic, until her well-deserved retirement. ¶ Cecelia was a skilled basketball player in school and her love for basketball carried on throughout her life. She was an avid Oklahoma City Thunder fan and proudly cheered on the Sooners. In her leisure time, Cecelia delighted in crossword puzzles and reading. ¶ Cecelia's infectious warmth and kindness earned her the title of social butterfly. She had a gift for turning strangers into friends and filling the lives of those around her with joy and laughter. ¶ Cecelia was preceded in death by her parents; her son and daughter-in-law, Barry Dale Hill and Kimberly White; and her grandson, Joshua Hill. ¶ Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Gary Del Hill and his wife Diane Hampton, Terry James Hill and his wife Deborah Dixon, and Sherri Gail Jackson; seven grandchildren, Lance Hill, Christin Tompkins and her husband Nick, Justin Hill and his wife Brianna, Ashley Hill, Jeremy Hill, Megan Aguirre and her husband Adam, and Samuel "Kathy" Jackson. She also had seven great-grandchildren. They brought her immense joy, and she cherished them deeply. ¶ A funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague. Burial will immediately follow at Prague Catholic Cemetery in Prague. A Rosary Service will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague. ¶ Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague.
