Cecil Thomas Young, 95 of Battle Creek, MI went home to the loving arms of departed loved ones on January 8, 2026.
Cecil was born on September 23, 1930, in Alpine, Tennessee, to Thomas and Lestie (Winton) Young. He grew up in Battle Creek, Michigan, and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School. He proudly served his country by enrolling in the Air National Guard and was later activated by the United States Air Force.
Cecil was a 60-year member of the First Presbyterian Church, Battle Creek. He was a life-member and Past Master of Ira A. Beck Lodge #503 F.&A.M. and was also a Shriner. He served as the State of Michigan Grand Lodge Deputy District Instructor, earning accolades from the Governor of Michigan for his dedication and accomplishments during his tenure.
Cecil retired from the Kellogg Company as a machine repairman after 33 years of faithful service. Following his retirement, he spent winters at his beloved Madeira Beach, Florida home with his companion of 38 years, Patricia R. Miller, who preceded him in death. Cecil was a stroke survivor who worked tirelessly to rehabilitate himself, earning the Patient of the Year Award from the Southwest Rehabilitation Hospital. In his final years, Cecil resided at Reflections Memory Care, where he was deeply loved and received exceptional care.
He is survived by his three daughters, Cindy (Michael) Clone, Tammy Young, and Denise (Jeff) Smith; his granddaughter, Rachel (Kyle) Andrus; and Patricia Miller’s daughter, Pam (Mike) Curtis, along with their three sons and two grandchildren.
Interment with full military honors will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children. Arrangements by Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care.
