Cecile Cammilleri Obituary
Cecile (Bell) Cammilleri, beloved wife of Leo, passed away on December 29, 2023 at the age of 93. She was born in Caribou, Maine on July 10, 1930, the daughter of Henry and Lucie (Hebert) Bell and the third of four children. Following the death of both her parents by the time she was 15, Cecile assumed responsibility for the household and helped raise her younger sister while continuing to go to school. Following high school, she moved to Connecticut where she worked for Hartford Steam Boiler Insurance Company and met the love of her life, Leo Cammilleri. They were married April 30, 1955 and lived in Enfield, Connecticut where they were members of St. Patrick's parish.
Cecile's focus was raising her two children, Jean and Robert, which she did with energy and creativity, leading many baking, arts & crafts, and "school" activities. Later, Cecile went to work at Hallmark Cards and Wallace Manufacturing/Fiskars where she served in several administrative roles. She had a wide range of hobbies including sewing, reading, gardening, exercising, and of course ballroom dancing which she and Leo did together for over 40 years. She also enjoyed traveling in her retirement and spending time with her five grandchildren who all lived nearby. Cecile will be fondly remembered for her sweet disposition, high energy, and enthusiasm for life and will be greatly missed!
Cecile is survived by her children, Jean Rush (and her husband Rick) of Bonita Springs, FL and Robert (and his wife Lori) of Somers, CT as well as her five grandchildren (Brendan, Ryan, Bobby, Kaley, and Eric). She is predeceased by her parents, siblings (Wil Bell and Mary Michaud), as well as her husband, Leo.
Cecile's family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale, West Hartford for their great care and compassion over the last two years of her life.
A private service for family and friends will be held at the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Enfield. For online condolences, please visit leetestevens.com
