On March 5, 2024, Cecilia Ann Marsh (Conner), peacefully passed away at home and entered into the presence of the Lord. Cecilia was born in Yakima, Washington, on November 17, 1933, to parents, Eben L. and Ada W. Conner, joining older brother, Calvin W., with brother, Eben L., Jr., joining the family a few years later.
Cecilia's strong faith was an important factor when diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes shortly before graduating from Yakima High School (A.C. Davis) in 1952. She then married her high school sweetheart, O. Roy Marsh, Jr., with whom she shared 70 wonderful years. In 1954, Cecilia gave birth to their first son, Roy Andrew, who tragically passed away 12 hours later. Daughter, Lori Jo, joined the family in 1959 and the family spent the next several years living in Oregon, California and Arizona, before returning to Yakima in 1962. Early in 1964, the family then became complete with the adoption of son, Thomas William.
During her younger years, Cecilia enjoyed her time as a substitute teacher and secretary for the West Valley School District, and additionally became a real estate agent. She shared her love of God and singing with the choirs at Westminster Presbyterian Church, First Presbyterian Church, and Bel Canto of Yakima. She also spent many years playing bells/chimes for the Yakima Valley Community Band. Cecilia enjoyed writing poetry, sewing, arts and crafts, and taking photographs to share with family and friends. She always made time to attend her children's and grandchildren's activities, rarely missing a chance to support and cheer them on. Her gentle spirit, kind heart and beautiful contagious smile will be forever missed.
Cecilia was preceded in death by her husband, O. Roy Marsh, Jr.; parents, Eben L. and Ada W. Conner; brothers, Calvin W. Conner and Eben L. Conner, Jr.; and infant son, Roy Andrew Marsh. She is survived by her daughter, Lori Sauve (Scott); son, Thomas Marsh; and five grandchildren, Ryan Sauve (Jennifer); Michael Sauve (Cindy); Kyle Sauve (Emily); Daniel Sauve (Savanah); and T.J. Walker (Holly); eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Dawn Marsh and Margaret Conner; and multiple nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Wiley Union Church, 2711 Wiley Road, Yakima, Washington. A reception at the church will follow the service. Memorial donations may be made in her honor to Joslin Diabetes Center, Inc., One Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215 or sent in care of Brookside Funeral Home, PO Box 1267, Moxee, WA 98936).
