Cecilia Suozzo, a lifelong resident of Staten Island, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026, at the age of 91. She was born on March 26, 1934, to John Honan and Marie Honan.

Cecilia was a proud graduate of St. Peter's Girls High School and earned her bachelor's degree from Notre Dame College in 1955, an institution that later became St. John's University. She went on to receive her master's degree in education from Wagner College, beginning a lifelong commitment to teaching and learning.

In 1955, Cecilia married the love of her life, Frank Suozzo. They shared more than 55 years of marriage before Frank's passing in 2011. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, and shared passions, including their love of world travel and their many years as devoted season ticket holders at the Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center.

Cecilia dedicated her professional life to education. She began her teaching career at Immaculate Conception School and later spent 25 years with the New York City Board of Education, teaching at IS 24, PS 44, and IS 34. She was deeply involved in the Staten Island Reading Association and remained an active member of the St. John's University Alumni Association.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and teacher, Cecilia found her greatest joy in her family. She was predeceased by her sons Frank Jr. (2012), James (2006), and Edward (2024). She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Villani, son - in - law Salvatore Villani, and daughter - in - law Harriett Suozzo.

Cecilia was a proud and loving grandmother to her ten grandchildren: Aaron Suozzo, Andrew Suozzo, Brian Suozzo, Christopher Suozzo, Joseph Suozzo, Megan Holden, Erin DeCasperis, Salvatore Villani, Julia Rotunno, and Frank Villani. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren. She was actively involved in her grandchildren's lives, always making time to attend their sporting events, music performances, and dance recitals.

An avid reader and lifelong learner, Cecilia will be remembered for her intelligence, warmth, dedication to education, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on through the many students she taught and the generations of family she so deeply cherished.
