Celeste, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, embarked on her final journey unexpectedly on April 8, 2024, while on a senior trip to South Carolina. She was 81 years old.
Born on May 13, 1942, in
Dearborn, MI, to the late Constantine and Genevieve (Knapp) Solak, Celeste's life was a testament to love, compassion, and unwavering faith. She pursued her passion for nursing, earning her bachelor's degree from Mercy College of Detroit in 1964, followed by a Master's degree from the University of Detroit in 1993. For 26 years, Celeste dedicated her talents to Providence Hospital in Southfield, where she served with distinction, as well as a Medical Surgical Educator, touching countless lives with her expertise and compassion.
On February 20, 1965, Celeste married Charles E. White, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Livonia. Charles preceded her in death on May 8, 2022 and Celeste said farewell to her son, Mark, on July 26, 2013. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jeffrey C. Solak on January 3, 1981.
Celeste's zest for life was evident in her love for travel and the great outdoors, passions she eagerly shared with her family. From camping trips with her children and then eventually with her grandchildren exploring new horizons, she embraced every adventure with a sense of joy and enthusiasm.
Her Catholic faith served as a cornerstone, providing her with solace and guidance throughout her journey. Celeste found great joy and comfort in her parish community at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Farmington, where she actively participated in the Pax Christi Group and Bible Study group and delighted in the harmonious melodies of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
Compassionate and kind-hearted, Celeste was a tireless volunteer and a steadfast friend to all who knew her. She cherished generational traditions, taking pride in her Polish heritage and was known for her skill in making pierogis. Her commitment to family was unwavering, and she delighted in spending precious time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, showering them with love and wisdom.
Though Celeste has bid farewell to this earthly realm, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she loved. Her legacy of love, faith, and resilience will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Celeste will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were touched by her kindness. May her memory be a blessing, and may she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love of those who went before her.
