Celestine Cutrer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cross Memorial Funeral Home - Amite on Jan. 30, 2026.
Sister Celestine Wilson Cutrer, affectionately called 'Celer', was born October 5, 1933, in Bolivar, Louisiana to loving parents King David Wilson and Edna Watson Wilson, the fourth of nine children. Seven of which preceded her in death: Clifford, Ivory, Augustine, Willie Leroy, Olivet, Claude, and David Leonard in that order.

She was educated at Silver Creek School and Tangipahoa Parish Public Schools.

She was employed as a Supervisor Dairy, INC., Cheese Plant from where she retired. She also worked as a private caregiver, work which she dearly loved.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to John R. Cutrer (Buster)" December 6, 1952, and to this union four children were born. In 1987, he preceded her in death.

Sister Celestine accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Silver Creek AME

Church at an early age under Rev Fisher. She placed her hand on the plow and never looked back. She believed the warning that Christ made in Luke 9:62: "No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the Kingdom of God. She served faithfully in Union Chapel as a Steward, Stewardess, Church Treasurer, Class Leader, member of the Pastor's Aid Board and choir member. She was an active member of the Women's Missionary Society, Lay Organization and Daughters of Sarah. She loved to attend Sunday School and Bible Study. She was also a member of the Sunflower Chapter Order of Eastern Stars. She set the bar for a church member in good and regular standing.

Sister Cutrer transitioned into eternity on Sunday morning, January 25, 2026, 6:24AM at home with family at her bedside. One grandson, Justin Patrick, one granddaughter Shaquanti Tanesha Moore, and one grandson-in-law, Troy Harrell preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted daughter Annie Bell Cutrer Moore and Son-in- Love Leslie Moore, and three devoted sons and daughters in love:

Rogers Allen Cutrer (Ethel), Jimmy Lawerence Cutrer (Katie Mae), Windell Cutrer (Wille Mae); and the granddaughter she raised, Shelisa Moore Scott (Fred); and two children by another mother, Minister Bernard Dyson (Ann) and Charles Blackburn.

Dear to her she also leaves to mourn one sister, Barbara Mae Brumifield, and Godchild Janice Lavon Martin. Those cherishing her memories include sisters-in-law, Mae Halen Cutrer Hookfin, Bertha Williams, Tim Wilson, Mary Brumfield Wilson Hill, and brother-in-law, William Oliver Cutrer; fourteen grandchildren twenty-eight great grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
