Celia Martinez Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Struve and Laporte Funeral Chapel on Sep. 11, 2024.
Celia Marie Martinez
Celia passed away on September 5th at the age of 96. She was surrounded by the love of family and friends. Celia grew up and lived in Salinas since the 40's. There she met the love of her life, Jesus, outside of Christ the King Church in Salinas. Celia loved big and unconditionally, was fiercely protective, was kind and sensitive yet strong, and some may say stubborn. Which is why, when the love of her life told her he was going to move to Mexico, instead of sending him off, she packed her bags and married him. They celebrated 73 years of marriage together and grew their family to include their two sons David and Ralph. If you had her in your corner, you knew it and were thankful for it. She was a working mother and worked in the packing industry, until she retired in 1984 to help raise her grandbabies. She was an avid bingo player and went religiously to Park Place Bingo each week. She enjoyed watching telenovelas, cheering (and sometimes yelling at) the Giants baseball games, visiting with family and friends, and feeding her loved ones. She joins her loved ones in heaven, including her siblings Arnold, Oscar, Alice, Gloria. She is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Jesus, and her brother Hector. Along with their sons David and daughter in law Lauda, and Ralph and daughter in laws Sonya and Tammy, grandchildren Amoreena and her partner Anthony, Aurora, Jesse, Erin and her partner Eddie and Micheala and her partner Richie; and her great-grandchildren Hendricks, Santana, Landon, Mia, and baby Celia. Her loving nephews Stevie, Abel and partner Terri, Lance and his partner Nicki, Victor, and Leticia.
