Ceretha A. Rettmann

Ceretha A. "Rita" Rettmann, 66, of Parsons, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at her home.
Rita was born on April 12, 1956, to Larry Edwin and Barbara Lucille (Gamblian) Troester in Illinois. As a young girl, she grew up and attended school in Davenport, Iowa. In 1971, she moved with her family to Parsons, where she had lived since.
For over 30 years, Rita worked at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center.
Rita was an active member of the Parsons Nazarene Church, where she enjoyed participating in the Joy Class. For many years, she was a foster parent. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She also liked to paint and do other crafts.
Survivors include:
One daughter – Devin Larsen of Parsons, Kansas
Three grandchildren – Lindsay Hearn (Blake); Bryson Mead (Michaela); and Huntley Ayers
Seven great-grandchildren
One brother – Terry Troester of Parsons, Kansas
One sister – Christy Stephens of Parsons, Kansas
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jerry Mead, Jr.; and one granddaughter, Kacia Mead.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will follow at East Bethany Cemetery outside of Parsons. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
