Chad William David Smith (Butterball), son, brother and father who loved his family and friends with all he had, passed away unexpectedly due to heart disease, leaving us with many memories on June 27, 2025. He was born in Akron, OH, on May 16, 1987, Chad's life was a testament to the joy of laughter and the satisfaction of a well-kept lawn. Chad grew up in Lakemore and attended Springfield High School. He had a great career going at Buds Construction. In his personal life, Chad loved being outdoors, sitting or standing around the fire, and especially if it involved his John Deere, four-wheeler and most importantly his kids. Some would say he was the best dad in the world. He could often be found covered in grease or mud, a sure sign of a day well spent. His passion for perfection was evident in how he manicured his lawn daily, ensuring not a single blade of grass stood out of line. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter and love, a collection of sports cards on his wall, and a lawn that could double as a putting green.
Preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Violet (Williams) Pall, his grandfather Chet Smith, his uncle Gene Williams, his cousin Pete McDuffie, and his niece Abbie Hagenbaugh.
He is survived by his parents, Richard and Helen (Pall) Smith. His daughters Emily and Jenna, son Chad (Buddy), Mother of his children Joan Margerum. His best friend and twin William, siblings Tonya and (Nick) Hagenbaugh, Shawn and (Amanda) Smith. His nieces Sierra (Stephen} and Savhanna (John), nephews Alex (Haley) and Kobe. His great-nephew Jyace along with many aunts, uncles, cousins.
Chad's memory will be a beacon of joy for all who knew him. When you are having a moment, keep your eyes to the sky. Those that miss and know him well will know why. Chad's life was a reminder that joy can be found in the simplest of things: a well-oiled gear, a smooth-running engine, and the laughter of children riding through woods.
As we say goodbye, we imagine him riding off into the sunset on his John Deere, leaving a trail of laughter in his wake. Farewell, Chad, our son, brother and father who taught us that even in parting, we can find a reason to smile. The showing will be held on Wednesday July 2, 1:00-2:30pm, at Paquelet - Falk Funeral Home 303 South Chapel Street Louisville, OH 44641.
