Chad Rings Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McGeehan Funeral Homes Keck-Coleman Chapel on May 28, 2024.
Chad Michael Rings, age 38, a resident of Ovid, died unexpectedly on May 25, 2024.
Chad was born on April 15, 1986 in St. Johns, Michigan, the youngest son born to Lon Rings and Donna (Nieman) Roberts. Born with natural charisma that could light up any room, Chad was ambitious and possessed an unparalleled passion for life. He graduated from St. Johns High School in 2003 and worked tirelessly to fulfill his military dreams. In 2007, he enlisted with the United States Army, proudly serving in three deployments, and in 2017, continued to serve with the Army National Guard and was an active member of the VFW of Ovid Post 8964. He was dedicated and passionate about his military service, and participated in and looked forward to the Memorial Day events every year with his daughter.
Outside his service, Chad was an energetic salesman for Young Chevrolet in Owosso. His charismatic personality and ability to connect with anyone earned him the affectionate nickname, "Chatter Box", since his birth. He was a talented car salesman and took pride in his work. Chad was also a huge football fan, particularly of the Detroit Lions. He enjoyed being outside, loved hunting and fishing and attending car races.
Chad was a devoted father, who was very active in his children's lives. Each spring break, he made it a point to take his kids on vacation, creating countless memories. Chad's hobbies included jet skiing, fishing, and hunting. He had a love for traveling, which he shared with his family. In 2022, he met Froline online and took his family and children to the Philippines for two weeks to meet and spend time with her. They were married on May 4, 2024. They loved traveling together and recently enjoyed a cruise to Thailand.
Chad was a man of great heart and ambition. His life was a testament to his commitment to his country, his work, and most importantly, his family. His presence will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife, Froline Rings; his beloved children, Sierra Marie, Xavier Michael, Nickolai Isaac and Luke Matthew; his mother, Donna (Mike) Roberts; his father, Lon (Lorrie) Rings; siblings, Judy (Bill) Phillips, Jeremy (Kandi) Roberts, Jennett Rowland, Monica (Gary Peters) Miller, Julie (James) Ritter, as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Shannon Rings.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 4-8 PM at McGeehan Funeral Home, 1500 Waterford Pkwy, St. Johns. A Funeral Service and Military Honors will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 11 AM, gathering beginning at 10 AM, at McGeehan Funeral Home, St. Johns. Cremation will follow. A luncheon will be held at VFW Post 4113, 2497 Old U.S. 27, St Johns.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the VFW of Ovid Post 8964, c/o Aaron McClung, 218 S Main St, Ovid, MI 48866.
