Chazatie Brook Carter
"Earth has no sorrow that Heaven can't heal."– Isaiah 35:10

Chazatie Brook Carter, 40, of Columbus, Ohio, transitioned from labor to reward on November 10,2025. She was born in Marion, Ohio, on March 14,1985, to Alicia McGary and James Reid. Chazatie was studying for her degree in psychology. She worked at Empower Behavioral Health & Intervention as a behavior technician. Her unexpected passing comes as a shock to her family and friends. She lived an energetic and vibrant life. She had so much ahead of her. She was taken far too soon.

Chazatie started singing before she could walk, pouring her heart into every note. Whether singing at church or home, her voice brought joy to everyone in the room. Chazatie will be remembered for how much fun she was to be around. Her magnetic personality drew people in. She loved her family fiercely. Church was her second home. She was an incredibly supportive friend, a devoted daughter/granddaughter, a loving sister, and a faithful servant who found her greatest joy in praise and fellowship. We will forever miss her warm and genuine presence.

Chazatie was preceded in death by her mother, Alicia McGary; grandfather, James Burks; uncle, Gerald McGary; and nephew, Cyncer McGary.

She is survived by her father, James Reid; siblings, Chaz McGary, Endia Reid, Jamie Reid, and Gabrielle Reid; grandmothers, W. Pearl Goodenow (Warren) and Brenda Smith; grandfather, Willie McGary; aunts, Barbara Reid-Dowe (Rodney), Nina Taylor, Tracey Reid, Niderrah Holley (Letisha), and Andrea Nunn (Janis); uncles, Troy Reid, Andre McGary, Dexter McGary, Ramondi McGary, and Zach McGary; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

I was fortunate enough to work with Chazatie from her beginning journey with Empower. She was a wonderful asset to our team and grew so much while working with her clients. Chazatie was a wonderful individual that I absolutely enjoyed working alongside, and she will be very missed.

I had the pleasure of working with Chazatie for a few years at Empower, where she was deeply dedicated to providing care for children with Autism. Chazatie was a truly wonderful person who cared deeply about the clients she worked with. Not only was she compassionate, but she was also one of the funniest coworkers I´ve ever had. No matter the situation, Chazatie could always lighten the mood just by being herself. She will be deeply missed. My thoughts are with her family during this difficult time.

Chaz was an amazing and wonderful person, always lighting up the room in such a short time. I grew to love her, and never a dull moment between us. I will deeply miss her. May her beautiful soul rest in peace sending my prayers and love to the family .
