Charisse Nelson-Bailey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Perry Funeral Home - Newark on Apr. 16, 2024.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Charisse Na'Kel Nelson-Bailey, who departed from this world on April 12th, 2024. Charisse was born on January 8th, 2000, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, bringing joy and light to her family from the moment she arrived.
Charisse, along with her beloved brother, the late Nieem H. Nelson-Bailey, was later welcomed into the loving arms of their late mother, Karen Bailey, on November 18th, 2006. She was a loving sister to Jarid Anthony Smith, Omar Bey-Bailey, and Keyona Garrett-Bailey. Their family bond was one of unwavering love and support, shaping Charisse into the remarkable person she became.
Charisse's love for her family ran deep, with many cherished moments and enduring bonds. She found immense joy in the company of her sister Keyona Bailey and cousins, Maya Bailey and Jada Harris, delighting in their shared adventures and the laughter that echoed through their time together. Their gatherings were filled with warmth, love, and an abundance of unforgettable moments, each one a testament to the special connection they shared. Whether exploring new places or simply enjoying each other's company, Charisse basked in the magic of these moments, cherishing the love and sisterhood that defined their family bond. Charisse held a profound gratitude for her Aunt Gail, whose unwavering support and love became a beacon of strength during her challenging times. Following the loss of their mother, Aunt Gail played a pivotal role in keeping Charisse and her sister Keyona Garrett-Bailey together, providing a stable environment that helped them navigate through their grief and find solace in each other's presence. Alongside Aunt Gail stood Brenda, a guiding presence whose wisdom and care helped shape Charisse's journey.
From her earliest days, Charisse radiated warmth, kindness, and an adventurous spirit. She was a beacon of joy, always ready to share her infectious laughter and compassionate nature with those around her. Charisse's love for animals, her passion for hairstyling, and her keen sense of humor were just a few of the many facets of her vibrant personality.
Charisse's generosity and selflessness knew no bounds, she would give her last if need be. She dedicated herself to uplifting others, offering words of encouragement and support to those in need. Her unwavering kindness will forever be remembered as a testament to her beautiful soul.
In addition to her remarkable capacity for love and compassion, Charisse possessed a strength of character that inspired all who knew her. She faced life's challenges with grace and resilience, never allowing adversity to dim her spirit or strength of will.
While Charisse may no longer walk among us, her spirit will endure in the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by her family: Late Grandmother Hazel Bailey, Late Grandfather Lindsey Bailey, Aunts (Eva (Sue) Isler, Loretta Gail Bailey, and the late Kim Bailey), Uncles (Carlos Bailey, the late Angelo Bailey, and the late Ronnie Bailey), Cousins (Natasha Jiles, Malika Jiles, Tariq Bailey, Tatiana Bailey, Qabid Turner, l'Drionna Turner, Angelica Bailey, Marcus Bailey, Myles Bailey, JaQuea Bailey, Jaquan Bailey, Quamir Ayala, Nasir Velez, Mekhi Pettiford, Charles (CJ) Herring, and Rowan Solomon), special family members (Walter (Punchy) Bailey, Chloe Bailey, Faye Banks, Taisa Banks, Brian Banks, Eric Banks, Tanneika Berryman, Aunt Tammy, Uncle Smitty, Auntie Lisa, and The Smith Family), best friend Rachel, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. As we mourn her loss, let us also celebrate the incredible legacy of love, compassion, and strength that she leaves behind.
Though Charisse's physical presence may be gone, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her love. May her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration in the days ahead.
