Mario J. Starnone, 97 of Caldwell, N.J. passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. Born in Italy, he immigrated to the United States as an infant and raised in Newark, N.J. he resided in Fairfield, N.J. for 25 years eventually settling in Caldwell 20 years ago. A proud veteran, Mario served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a former parishioner of St. Lucy's RC Church in Newark. An avid chess player, he enjoyed golfing but most importantly he loved to spend time with his family and friends.
Prior to retiring, he was the owner/operator of Alstar Machine Corp. in Bloomfield, N.J. for many years.
Beloved husband of the late Catherine Starnone (Brady). Loving and devoted father of Donna J. Pannullo. Cherished grandfather of Dana and Kimberly Pannullo. Dear great grandfather of Gia Donna and Tyler. Caring brother of Rosemarie Heady and late husband William and the late Tullio Starnone. He is also survived by nephews, Stephen and David Heady.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, January 8, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Avenue, Cedar Grove, N.J. 07009. A Graveside Service will follow, 1:30 p.m. at Glendale Cemetery, 28 Hoover Avenue, Bloomfield, N.J. 07003. Memories and condolences may kindly be shared at shookscedargrove.com.
