Richard T. Cronin

Richard T. Cronin, 95, of Cedar Grove, N.J. has passed away on February 28, 2026.

Born and raised in Montague, Massachusetts, Richard carried with him the strong values of faith, family, and community that shaped his early years. He later moved to Bloomfield, New Jersey, before ultimately settling in Cedar Grove, where he built a life rooted in devotion.

Richard was a faithful and devoted parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church for 52 years. Serving as an usher for many years. Above all else, Richard treasured his family. He found his greatest joy in spending time with them, especially his beloved grandchildren, who brought endless pride and happiness to his life.

A proud veteran of the Korean War, Richard served his country with honor and carried that same sense of duty and dedication throughout his life. Following his military service, he built a long and respected career as a Surveyor with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Cronin (née O'Sullivan); his son, Thomas Cronin and his wife Arlene; his daughter, Mary Cronin; and his cherished grandchildren, Kimberly, Andrea, Julianne, Kevin, Lucy, and Kiara. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughters, Kathleen Cronin and Linda Ann Cronin, and by his siblings, Leslie Cronin and Shirley McDonough and sister-in-law Kay Cronin.

Richard's memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends will be received for a viewing on Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave, Cedar Grove, N.J. 07009. A mass will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena R.C. Church, 339 Pompton Ave, Cedar Grove. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, E. Hanover, N.J.
