Charleen A. Greuel, 90 of Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, with her family by her side at Elim Nursing Home.
Charleen Alice (Challstrom) Greuel was born to Charles and Caroline (Pfingsten) Challstrom in Fargo, ND on April 4, 1935. At an early age Charleen and her brother, Alvin, went to live with Bill and Dorothy Pfingsten, Chaffee, ND upon their parents' death in San Francisco, CA. They gained eight siblings. Mom always spoke about the fun times they had growing up and was thankful to join their family. Charleen graduated from Chaffee High School.
Charleen married Harvey H. Greuel on June 11, 1955. They were blessed with four daughters, Kimberle, Kathy, Kari, and Kelly and resided in Fargo, ND and on Lake Lizzie, Pelican Rapids, MN. Charleen worked in a fabric store and from there was a Security Guard for Steiger Tractor. Charleen and Harvey were involved in many community organizations such as The Fraternal Order of Eagles, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Elks. She loved participating in PTA throughout the girls' school years. Family was everything.
Charleen is survived by her children, Kimberle (Ed) Samuelson, Kathy (Jeff) Morken, and Kelly Beilke (Lowell Albert); grandchildren, Lindsey and Nicole Rhodes, Mathew Beilke, and Jared Morken; great-grandchildren, Allandra and Leyaunna Arechigo, and Kalani and RaeLyne Rhodes; a great-great granddaughter, Aminah Deronjic; son-in-law, Dale Anderson; a sister-in-law, Clarice Challstrom; sisters, Lois (Clint) Hendrickson, Phyllis (Roger) Koetz, and Marjorie Morris; and brothers-in-law, Lowell (Elvira) Greuel and Darold Schimming.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey; daughter, Kari Anderson; great-great grandson, Eastyn Deronjic; brothers, Alvin Challstrom and William (Alice) Pfingsten; sisters, Delores (Hank) Havelange, Shirley Schimming, Wilda (Roger) Greuel, and Eleanor (Wilbert) Koetz; sisters-in-law, Mabel (Rufus) Kolb and Jean (William) Schossow.
The family of Charleen can't thank Ethos Hospice and Elim Nursing Home enough for their care and kindness.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, July 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM with visitation with the family at 10:00 AM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, 215 7th Street South, Fargo, ND. Interment will be at a later date.
