CHARLENE EASTMAN, 75, of Arcola, IL passed away at 12:58 A.M. on Friday, October 15, 2022, at Arcola Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at the Edwards Funeral Home. Pastor Seth Emerson will officiate. Burial will be in the Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at the funeral home.
Charlene was born on April 15, 1947, in Moultrie County, the daughter of Lewis A. and Eliza (Otto) Schrock.
She is survived by her daughter Sheila Dukeman and her husband Michael, two grandsons, Austin Lewis Hopkins (Molly Mahannah) and Trevin Nicholas Plank all of Arcola, IL, and a brother, Lester L. Schrock of Lovington, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Charlene was a 1965 graduate of Arthur High School.
Charlene worked in office management for many years, starting at the Arthur Home, Gibson Federal Savings and Loan in Gibson City, Country Companies Insurance Agencies in Arthur and Arcola, Curry Construction and then working at the Arcola Record Herald until she retired. After retirement, she worked part time at Elder-Beerman in Mattoon.
Charlene enjoyed gardening and all that goes along with it, sharing the bounty of the harvest, canning, and freezing vegetables. She was a great cook, who shared her passion through excellent pies of all kinds. She collected snow globes, nutcrackers, and angel figurines that she proudly displayed. Charlene's hobbies did not end there, for she loved being outside where she could enjoy all of God's creation, especially butterflies. She was very skilled at cross stitch and has completed many beautiful masterpieces down through the years that are framed for all to enjoy.
Her greatest joy in life came from spending time with her daughter Sheila and her two grandsons, Austin and Trevin, whether it was shopping, fishing or going to their sporting events Gram was all in!
