Longtime Alaska resident Charlene Annette Ebell, 76, passed with her family at her side on
March 7, 2025, in Palmer, Alaska. Charlene was born on June 18, 1948, in San Franscico,
California to Norma and Davis McCarthy. Charlene attended Sonoma Valley High School in
Sonoma, California.
Charlene joined the United State Army in February of 1972. While serving in Germany, Charlene
met and married her husband, Nick Ebell, February 14, 1975. Charlene served in the military for
ten years. She was honorably discharged in 1982. During her military career, Charlene had the
opportunity to visit many states and many countries across the world. Charlene and her family
moved to Alaska in 1987. After her military service, Charlene worked as a Civil Servant for the
United States Air Force retiring after years of dedicated service in February of 2002.
Charlene loved her family, her country, and community. She was an avid lover of animals
including horses and dogs. She enjoyed making jewelry. Charlene was a giving person and
deeply loved by her family and friends. Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, Norma
and Davis McCarthy.
Charlene Ebell is survived by her husband of fifty years, Nick Ebell; her children, daughters Amy,
Heidi, and Melissa; son, Michael. Her sister, Sharon Dequer (Iowa). Grandchildren: Alex, Angel,
Austin, Casey, Donovan, Elexis, Jakoby, Jesse, Julyan, Malikai, Nico and Silas; two great
grandchildren Corbin and Ronin; a host nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Charlene's final resting place will be Joint Base Elmendorf Fort Richardson in Alaska. Final
arrangements have been entrusted to the Valley Funeral Home in Wasilla Alaska.
