Charlene Johnson Obituary

Charlene Porter Johnson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2024, at the age of 75. Born on August 23, 1949, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Russell and Violet Porter, Charlene was the second oldest of nine children.

Charlene graduated from Logan High School in 1967 and went on to attend the LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, where she earned a certificate in Dental Assisting in March of 1968. While attending college, Charlene met Darrell Johnson. After dating for almost a year they were sealed for time and eternity in the Logan Temple on May 10, 1968.

Charlene and Darrell were blessed with four children: Darren, Amy, Jana, and Todd. Charlene found immense joy in her role as a mother. Her creativity was evident in her hobbies, including sewing, crafting, baking and genealogy. A dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Charlene served faithfully in numerous capacities throughout her life. Her love for the Gospel and unwavering testimony of the Savior were central to her faith.

Despite being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Charlene's spirit remained unbreakable. Her resilience and determination were inspiring. In her later years, as MS increasingly affected her physical abilities, Charlene maintained a positive outlook. Even when confined to bed, she found solace in journaling, drawing, word searches, and cherished visits from family and friends.

Charlene's life was a testament of family, faith, and perseverance. She will be fondly remembered for her valiant strength. Charlene is survived by her devoted husband, Darrell; children: Darren (Jeanette), Amy (Darin), Jana (Luke), and Todd (Kassi); siblings Corinne, Roger (RoseAnn), Shannon (Jerry), Randy (Susan), Nina (Kent), Dini (Henry), Tami (Guy), Ron (Luwana); thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Friday, September 20, at the Willow Valley Ward LDS building at 825 N 200 W in Logan from 6-8 p.m. The funeral will be held at the same location on Saturday, September 21, at 11 a.m. with an additional viewing prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Logan Cemetery. The family extends their gratitude for the love and support they have received during this time.

Charlene was a dear friend whom I went through High School with and we worked together at Pete's Spudnut Drive-Inn. Several years had passed us by and I had purchased the Institute of Medical and Dental Technology and Charlene came in and began working as the Dental Assistant Instructor, training young woman to become Dental Assistants. We had a great time working together and she loved using her training to now teach.
Charlene was a very good friend of mine and when I closed the school, we eventually lost track of each other.
I was sad to hear about her illness and to see that she is now in good hands with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
She was a very good friend as we grew up to womanhood. I cherish the memories we made together and love her as my very special friend.

We have served in the Logan Valley Branch at Rocky Mountain Care since November 2023, and have enjoyed getting to know Char. Each time we visited with her she was friendly, happy, and never complained about anything. We will always remember her sweet smile, and good attitude she had about being in the facility. We will miss her very much! Gary and Wendy Banford

We send our sympathy to the Johnson family who we loved as neighbors when we lived in Logan. Char is a dear friend and an example of all that is good. How much she endured! How great was her faith! How beautiful her smile!
