Charlene F. Krueger

July 16, 1952 - July 13, 2025

GRAND ISLAND – Charlene F. Krueger, 72, of Grand Island, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Good Samaritan – The Villa, in Hastings.

Private Family funeral services will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Hill. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Blue Hill.

Memorials are suggested to Christ Lutheran Church in St. Paul or Zion Lutheran Church in Scotia.

Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.

Charlene was born on July 16, 1952, in Webster County, Nebraska, Red Cloud, the daughter of Dean and Muriel (Tucker) Bartley. She was baptized into the Christian faith at Red Cloud. She also grew up in the Red Cloud community and graduated from Red Cloud High School in 1970. She then attended Joseph's College of Beauty in Hastings, Neb., where she received her degree in cosmetology. Charlene operated hair salons in Red Cloud, Blue Hill and Ord. She retired from doing hair in 1995, when she obtained her real estate sales person license. In 1999, she obtained her Nebraska Real Estate Appraisal license and worked with her husband until retirement in 2003.

On Aug. 5, 1985, she married Dale D. Krueger and the couple resided in Ord until 2003, when they retired and moved to the Lake of the Woods near St. Paul. In the fall of 2011, they moved to Grand Island due to health reasons and to be near their daughter, Jamie and family.

Charlene had a talent for quilting, tatting and loved working with her flowers. She especially enjoyed her family and grandchildren and loved Husker Volleyball.

She is survived by two daughters, Jamie and John Eberly of Hastings and their children, Milana and Paxton, Shari and Chris Kriz of Blue Hill and their family, Ashlee and Lance Duester and Kami Kriz; four stepchildren, Lynette and Rick LaFond of Chandler, Ariz., and daughters, Mackenzie LaFond and Minette and Brian Boyd; David and Amy Krueger and their son, Zachary Knott; Mitchell and Dr. Anne Krueger and their family, Katherine, Jane and John Krueger; and Crissa and Tom Snider and family, Vance and Nicole Snider and Paige Snider, all of Omaha; and three great-grandchildren, Paislee, Lilly and Noah; three sisters and three brothers-in-law, Richard Greenhalgh, Janet and LeRoy Maruhn, Valda Phelps; and her twin sister, Marlene and Jim Zimmerman, all of Red Cloud.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Muriel; husband, Dale on Dec. 28, 2021; grandson, Sam Krueger; brother, Lyle Bartley; sister, Phyllis Greenhalgh; and three nephews, Craig Greenhalgh, JD Zimmerman and Joel Arneson.
