Northeast Harbor
Charlene Tyler Marshall passed away at her house in Northeast Harbor in early August of this year. She had just celebrated her 79th birthday with prosecco, seafood, and family.
Charlene was born in Charleston SC to a large family and grew up with a curiosity about people and cultures around the world. Some of her happiest days were when she was able to split her time between her apartment in NYC and summers in Maine. Those who knew her well found her to be playful and loving, with a contagious laugh and sparkling blue eyes. Charlene filled her summer evenings with dinners with her children, her mornings with giggles with grandchildren, and afternoons with precious time on the water with dear friends.
She is survived by her three children, Arden (Brian), Inness (Jamey), and Robert (Karina); her grandchildren Weston, James, Lyon, Luna, and Woods; and her beloved dog Queenie. She was predeceased by her husband Anthony Marshall.
A funeral for close family and friends was held at St Jude's Episcopal Church in Seal Harbor, Maine on August 14th.
Gifts in her honor may be donated to the Ashely Bryan Center on Isleford, Maine, Ashleybryancenter.org.

I loved Charlene, who befriended me when we lived in New Jersey. She taught me to make the most delicious cinnamon rolls imaginable. We reconnected in NYC, where she became a Stephen Leader at St. James' Church, Madison Avenue, using her considerable pastoral skills to help parishioners going through a rough time in their lives. My heart goes out to her children, whom she dearly loved and admired.

I met her at church; we served on a committee together: in good times and bad she was warm, cheerful and friendly. I liked her very much indeed.

Charlene Marshall was a special lady. She was supportive of my dream of a Broadway Play. My wife Patti and I will never forget our trip to Maine while we spent quality time together. She holds a very special place in our hearts. She will be missed...
