"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in Me will never die.'"-John 11:25-26

Charlene "Char" Rose Sikes, 79, of Brownwood, Texas, was born in Bellwood, Illinois, to Charlotte and Henry Reed and grew up in Melrose Park. She attended Leyden High School and later moved to Brownwood, Texas, where she married the love of her life, Samuel Sikes.

Together they shared 36 wonderful years of marriage filled with laughter, faith, and family.

Char was the proud mother of two children, daughter Christina Marie Beasley and son Samuel (Kenny) Sikes II who were her greatest joys.

Char was a lifelong learner and hard worker. She attended Ranger Junior College and earned her beautician license in 1985. She opened her own salon at Brownwood Care Nursing Home, where she cherished the friendships, she made with residents and staff alike. After closing her salon, she became the manager of Kettle/Skillets Restaurant, where everyone lovingly knew her as "Momma Char." Her kindness, humor, and care for others left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

After retiring, Char devoted her time to her home and family as a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She found joy in being outdoors, she tended to her trees, flower beds, watching the hummingbirds, making sure the yard was maintained. She also enjoyed being the team mom for her son Kenny's sport teams, along with doing fashion shows with her daughter Christina. She surrounded herself with beauty "bling bling" which included sparkling jewelry and colorful nails to her collection of shoes and purses.

Char's heart for helping others was one of her greatest gifts. Whether offering a meal, a place to stay, or a word of encouragement, she lived out her faith daily. Her love for the Lord and passion for Christian music brought her comfort and peace throughout her life.

Charlene is survived by her daughter, Christina Beasley and husband Todd, son Samuel "Kenny" Sikes II and wife Kathy, sister Cathy Reed-Pedersen, grandchildren Corey Lawson, Aaron Lawson, Nicole Lawson, Kaleb Sikes, and Brenden Sikes, along with 8 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents Charlotte and Henry Reed, brothers Richard Dula and Steve Reed, sisters Jacqua Lorenzi and Rheta Davis.

"Char will be remembered for her unwavering love, compassion, and joyful spirit a true reflection of her walk with the Lord. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her."
