Charlene Threase Sumerix, 86 of Gaylord, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Munson Otsego Memorial Hospital in Gaylord.

Born June 30, 1937, in Cadillac, Michigan, she was the daughter of Clarence and Jessie (Michael) Bostwick.  She grew up in Cadillac and graduated from Cadillac High School.

On June 25, 1960, Charlene and Richard L. Sumerix were married.  They were long time residents of Gaylord.  After 55 years, he preceded her in death on May 29, 2015.

Charlene and Richard were owners of a collection agency and investigation business.  She enjoyed her work over the many years they operated the business.

In her spare time, she enjoyed mushroom hunting, metal detecting, fishing, and canning.  She loved her dogs, especially German Shepherds.  Her family and friends will remember her willingness to always help those in need.

Charlene is survived by her children, Heather (Shawn) Sygo and Patrick Sumerix, all of Gaylord; grandchildren, Deven, Shalyn, Courtney, Alissa, and Patrick Jr; great-grandchildren, Pierce, Bella, Colton, Landon, Easten, and Waylynn.

In keeping with her wishes, her family will remember her privately.  Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions in her memory to the Otsego County Animal Shelter.
