Charles Eugene Abbott

1938 - 2026

Charles Eugene Abbott, 87 of Reddington passed away on January 26, 2026 at Hoosier Health and Living in Brownstown. He was born February 21, 1938 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Vernon Marshall and Emma Clarice Murray Abbott. His family moved to the Reddington area in 1942. Charles graduated from Seymour High School, class of 1956 and went to work as a Machinist at Cummins Engine Plant. He retired after 35 years of service. He married Linda R. Abbott on March 18, 1962 at Reddington Christian Church.

Charlie had a life-long love for model airplanes and was a member of the AMA, Academy of Model Aeronautics. He also enjoyed firearms and competition shooting and was a life-long member of the NRA. His greatest enjoyment came from watching his great-grandkids racing their dirt bikes. As a young man, he was baptized at Reddington Christian Church.

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Linda on September 8, 2012. Surviving to cherish his memories are his son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Diana Abbott, his granddaughters, Heather R. and Andrew Galbraith and Brittney A. Findley as well as great-grandchildren, Blayke Chase and Madison Findley.

Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at Voss and Sons Funeral and Cremation Service, 316 N. Chestnut Street, Seymour, Indiana. He will be laid to rest next his wife, Linda at Reddington Cemetery.

Memorials may be given in Charlie's memory to the Don and Dana Myers Cancer Center through the Schneck Foundation or the organization of the donor's choice.
