Larry Kiewitt Obituary

Larry Gene Kiewitt, 79, a lifelong resident of Jackson County, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 8:56 a.m. at Hoosier Health & Living in Brownstown, Indiana.

Larry was born on October 26, 1946, in Seymour, Indiana, to Richard H. Kiewitt and Elsie Rosene (Rittman) Kiewitt. He graduated from Seymour High School with the Class of 1964.

Shortly after high school, Larry began his working career with the Soil Conservation Service in Brownstown, Indiana. He later worked as a truck driver for Jay C Foods, where he eventually retired. Alongside his career, Larry enjoyed farming and was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family.

On May 27, 1983, Larry married Dixie Sue (Sage) Kiewitt, who preceded him in death on May 24, 2003. He was a faithful member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Larry had a lifelong love for tractors and mechanical tinkering. He especially enjoyed attending tractor shows and working on his Cockshutt 550 tractor and his Case Vac tractor, which was bestowed upon him by his classmate, Richard. In his spare time, he could often be found tinkering in the garage, taking road trips, and proudly watching his children's and grandchildren's activities at school. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family.

Survivors include his three children: Rebecca Diana (Rick) Stealey of Nicholasville, Kentucky; Michael Duane (Wendy) Kiewitt of Seymour, Indiana; and Chadrick Kiewitt of Seymour, Indiana. He is also survived by four stepchildren: Vanessa (Jason) Findley of Seymour, Indiana; Melessa (Mark) Wiesehan of Seymour, Indiana; and Roscoe Lee (Valorie) Reynolds Jr.; Debbie (Jimmy) Curry; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one sister, Deborah (Dennis) Gleson of Memphis, Indiana; along with several cousins and extended family members.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Sue Kiewitt; his parents; and three grandchildren, Michael Duane Kiewitt Jr., Michelle Kiewitt, and Edwin Feuerstein IV.
