Dr. Charles Dwight Ayers, 79, of Randleman, died Monday, September 9, 2024 at Randolph Health in Asheboro.
Funeral Services, 1 PM, Monday, September 16, 2024, at Balfour Baptist Church, Asheboro. The Funeral Service will be live streamed on Balfour Baptist Church's website, www.balfourchurch.com, as well as their Facebook and YouTube pages.

Entombment, Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
Dwight was a native and lifelong resident of Randolph County and a humble servant of his Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a 1963 graduate of Trinity High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from High Point College in 1967. He went to graduate school at Christian Bible College & Seminary where he earned his Masters of Divinity in 1995 and two Doctorate Degrees, Philosophy in 1997 and Theology in 2011.
Dwight never stopped pursuing his education and his desire to serve the Lord, earning several certificates from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and certifications from Biola University and the American Association of Christian Counselors. He was licensed and ordained to minister by Balfour Baptist Church where he served as Minister of Outreach for many years.
Dwight also served as a volunteer chaplain for several local law enforcement agencies and fire departments including the Randolph County and Moore County Sheriff's Offices, the Asheboro, Ramseur, Liberty, Randleman and Carthage Police Departments, the Carthage and Franklinville Fire Departments, Randolph County Emergency Services, and the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
Dwight was the chaplain for the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary 107th Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol in Asheboro. He faithfully ministered to the residents of Alpine Health and Rehabilitation Center from 1976 until 2020. He reached out to "shut-ins" on weekly devotional radio broadcasts on WKXR, "Happy Thoughts" and "Golden Age Hour" and delivered meals with the Meals on Wheels program in Randolph County.
Dwight also had a heart for young people, serving as Awana Commander, leading kids to Christ. He also was the District Collection Station Director for Operation Christmas Child, overseeing the collection and logistics for up to 20,000 "shoe boxes" each year.
In his free time Dwight was also the co-owner and operator of Asheboro Wholesale Grocery, Inc. and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He impacted so many lives and he will truly be missed by his family and the community. Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Lillian Brown Ayers.
Survivors: wife, Brenda Brown Ayers, of the home, daughter, Angie Scott and husband, Bob, of Seagrove, son, Harold Ayers and wife Sandra, of Seagrove, brother, Michael Ayers and wife, Starr, of Asheboro, two grandchildren, Zack Ayers and fiance, Kenzie Beeson, of Asheboro and Reagan Edwards, of Seagrove, several nieces and nephews.
The body will lie in repose on Sunday from 2 PM until 5 PM at the Loflin Funeral Home in Ramseur.
Visitation, 11 AM to 12:30, Monday, Balfour Baptist Church, Asheboro.
