Charles Baldis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home on Feb. 25, 2026.
Charles "Charlie" Baldis, 99, of Granby passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on September 28, 1926, in Yonkers, NY, Charlie was the son of the late James and Adele (Franco) Baldassarre. Raised with strong values of hard work, dedication, and love of family, Charlie carried those principles with him throughout his remarkable 99 years.

Charlie proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II as a Machinist Mate Second Class. His service reflected the courage and commitment that defined his generation, and he remained deeply proud of his time in uniform.

Following his military service, Charlie built a long and successful career as a mechanical contractor in the Heating & Air Conditioning industry. Known for his skill, integrity, and tireless work ethic, he earned the respect of colleagues and customers alike. Even in retirement, Charlie never truly slowed down. He generously volunteered his time with Equistrides Riding Center and remained actively involved alongside his sons in their heating and air conditioning businesses, always ready to lend a hand or share his expertise.

Charlie embraced life fully and joyfully. He enjoyed golf, bowling, and, above all, spending time with his family. He was a devoted presence at his grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's sporting events and activities, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer them on. For many years, he treasured the simple pleasure of sharing breakfast and lunch daily with his longtime buddies - friendships that stood the test of time and meant the world to him.

Charlie's greatest pride was his family. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, loyalty, generosity, and love that will live on in the generations who were fortunate to know him. His steady guidance, warm smile, and unwavering support will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Charlie is survived by his children, Barbara Wilson of Granby, Charles J Baldis and wife Janet of Slovakia; Gary Baldis and wife Beth of Southwick, MA; Jim Baldis and wife Lisa of Southwick, MA; Sue Carpenter and husband Kevin of Fayetteville, AR; as well as 16 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Dottie(Lauriguet) Baldis, his sister, Elsie Van Brunt and his grandson Brandon C Wilson.

Charles' family will receive friends on Friday, March 27, 2026 from 5-7pm at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook Street, Granby, CT 06035. A funeral service will begin at 7:00pm at Carmon's. Burial with full military honors will be held on Saturday, March 28th, 2026 at 11:00am in Simsbury Cemetery, 16 Plank Hill Road, Simsbury, CT 06070.
