Bill was born December 27, 1943, to William & Allie (Puckett) Baxter in Richlands, Virginia.
After moving to Indiana, Bill attended schools in Putnam County, and graduated from Fillmore High School in 1962 where he excelled in sports and worked before and after school at a dairy farm.
After Business College, he worked as controller at Ball Corp., then Schneider Engineering Co., and retired from Indiana Duplicating Co.
Bill served as treasurer at Fairfax Christian Church for 38 years and was an Elder there. He also ran PowerPoint and sound systems and worked tirelessly in the food pantry.
Bill especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and taking trips with his wife and friends.
Bill is survived by his wife of 43 years Lydia, and daughters Tamara Huffman, Lori (Steve) Young, and Kelli (John Choate) Stevens. He is Papaw to Jacob Huffman, Justin (Nicki) Huffman, Jared Huffman, Joel Huffman, Caitlyn (Maria) Boyce, Kyndra (Austin) Chapman, Kyler Boyce, and Jonah (Bailey) Stevens. Bill has 7 great-grandchildren: Freya, Aubrey, Eden, Ivy Mae, Peyton, Addison, and Emma Sue. Bill is also survived by his sister Freda Fuller. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters June Barron and Judy Clayton.
