Obituary for Charley Beasley

 

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles M. "Charley" Beasley, who departed from this world on August 5, 2024, in Woodstock, Georgia. Charley was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a cherished member of his community.

Born on July 24, 1941, in Meridian, Mississippi, Charley graduated from Meridian High School in 1959. He began his college studies at Mississippi State before joining the U.S. Navy in 1960. He served with the 101st Fighter Squadron as an Aviation Electronics Technician aboard the USS Intrepid until 1964. After completing his naval service, he went to work with Western Electric as a telephone equipment installer where he retired after an incredible 40 years of service. 

Charley led a fulfilling life dedicated to hard work and providing for his family. Described as hard-headed yet loving and caring by those who knew him best, Charley's personality left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him.

Beyond his professional life, Charley was tirelessly involved in the extra curricular endeavors of his children. He was always on the go with football, baseball, scouting and band. Charley found joy in collecting model trains. He was a member of the Train Collectors Association (TCA) for over 50 years—a testament to his passion for preserving history through these intricate models.

In his family life, Charley was a devoted husband of 60 years to his loving wife Barbara "Elaine" Beasley. Together they raised their three sons: Clinton Beasley, Greg Beasley, and Stan Beasley with wife Donna. He also leaves behind his sister Sandra Joyner, as well as grandchildren Sara Gillespie & husband Zach, Alex DiParto & husband Andrew, Kailyn Beasley, and Kody Beasley. His legacy further extends to his great-granddaughter Shea Gillespie and numerous nieces and nephews. Charley was preceded in death by his parents, William & Beatrice Beasley, sister, Patsy Fuller & her husband Paul, daughter-in-law, Wendy Beasley, brother-in law Lester Joyner, half-brothers, Bill, Walter, James, and Ronald, and half-sister, Dot. 

A visitation for family and friends to gather will be held on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024 Between the hours of 5:00pm - 8:00pm at Poole Funeral home and Cremation Services. Interment will take place on Wednesday September 4th, 2024, at 12:30pm at Georgia National Cemetary in Canton Georgia. 

While we mourn the loss of Charley Beasley, we take solace in celebrating the remarkable life he lived and the countless memories he created with those around him. His unwavering spirit and undying love will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. In this time of sorrow, may we find comfort in remembering Charley's enduring legacy—a legacy built on hard work, dedication to family, and a passion for life that inspired all who knew him. 

Rest in peace, dear Charley—you will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
