Charles "Charlie" David Bentley was born in Riverside, California, to Doris Loretta Hendricks Bentley Roberts and Albert Leroy Bentley on April 27, 1955. Charlie, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, shared a joyful and adventurous childhood growing up in Riverside with his mother Doris, dad Aubrey Roberts, and his seven siblings: Darlene, Lynn, Janet, Bonnie, Deborah, Randy, and Jessie. As a young boy, he was inquisitive, daring, risk-taking, and full of life, which sparked his love for fishing and outdoor adventures. Charlie had natural mechanical and creative woodworking skills that he continued to develop and perfect over time.
He attended schools in Riverside and graduated from La Sierra High School in 1973. Charlie worked and excelled in various jobs over the years. As a young boy, he and his brother Randy, delivered newspapers early in the mornings. He later worked for the City of Riverside, Sunkist Lemon Product Division, U.S. Pipe, Aamco, and Trammel Crowe Developers. Eventually, he became a successful entrepreneur, planning and managing high-level development and renovation of commercial properties throughout California and western states.
After retirement, Charlie enjoyed respite and ranch life in
Hemet, California, where he partnered with his dear friend Judy, to care for rescued horses and other various animals. In his free time, he found joy in golfing, boating, water-skiing, fishing, and woodworking. He adored his children and grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them.
Charlie will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who loved him. He is survived by his wife Marisa, five children: Jessiah, David, Zane, Cameron, and Taylor; three grandchildren: Mason, Grace, and Aubrey; six sisters: Darlene, Lynn, Janet, Bonnie, Deborah, and Jessie; and a brother, Randy. He also leaves behind brothers-in-law Clint, Bob, and Richard; a sister-in-law, Helen; and many nieces and nephews. His beloved friend Judy and long-time friends Curtis and Jerry, were always encouraging and by his side on the good days and hard days of his adventurous life.
