Charles Bila Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snow Funeral Home - Saginaw on Mar. 27, 2026.
Bila, Charles Robert (Bud)

Saginaw Township, Michigan

Beloved father and grandfather passed away Friday, March 27, 2026. He was 87 years old. The son of the late Charles F. and Rose (Ringer) Bila. Bud was born February 5, 1939 in Oakley, Michigan. He married Esther A. Grondzik on July 14, 1972. She predeceased him on April 11, 1996.

Bud earned his engineering bachelor's degree from General Motors Institute. He was a member of Beta Alpha Epsilon fraternity and employed by Saginaw Malleable Iron for 34 years, until he retired as a Superintendent in1990.

Bud loved his family dearly and his most favorite title was "Papa". He cherished this role above all. Bud kept busy during his retirement making beautiful furniture pieces with his beloved wife before her passing. He volunteered his time with St Helen Catholic Church wearing multiple hats including managing the bingo program. He also loved volunteering at Emmaus House in Saginaw. In his spare time he gardened and shared his lovingly tended produce freely with his neighbors. While Bud enjoyed his leadership and family roles, he was also proud of the dear friendships he made along the way.

Surviving are his five children Melissa (Bill) Regan, Farmington Hills; Lance Bila, Florida; Chad Bila, Saginaw; Robin LaBiche, Cadillac; and Charles Bila II, Hollywood, California. His grandchildren: Brennan and Julia Regan, Blake Bila, Trisha LaBiche, Tyler LaBiche. His siblings: Pat Klockziem, Don Bila, Cathy (Tim) Karinen, Sharon (Ron) Smith, Bob (Donna) Bila; and many nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his grandson, Brandon LaBiche; and his brother, Dave; sisters-in-law: Brenda Bila and Kaye Bila; and brother-in-law, Ron Klockziem.

The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for all their tender love and care given to Bud and his family.

A Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty). Chaplain Lonnie Severance will officiate. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those wishing to make a donation in honor of Bud may consider memorial contributions to the Toni and Trish House, a hospice house in Auburn, Michigan.
