Charles Nicholas Blatt, born November 30, 1935, in Perry, Oklahoma, passed away on April 27, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. A man of great faith and integrity, Charles served his country in the US Army Reserves while embarking on a 35-year career with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT). He retired in 1993 as the Branch Manager for Utilities but continued as a consultant for ODOT until 2016.
On October 7, 1961, Charles married the love of his life at St. Mary Catholic Church in Guthrie. Together, they raised their family in Moore, Oklahoma, before retiring and returning to Guthrie to enjoy golf, gardening, family, and OSU football.
Charles is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Elizabeth; daughter, Mary Jane Shelton (Charles); sons, Anthony John Blatt (Julie), and Vincent Charles Blatt (Ann); five grandchildren, Conner Stanley Blatt (Sarah), Sydney Elizabeth Davis (Brandon), Jordan Elizabeth Blatt, Jonathan Mathias Blatt, and Carter Davis Blatt; sister, Janice Krejci; and brother-in-law, Jude Krejci of Wheatland, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mathias John Blatt and Elizabeth Martha Wagner Blatt.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research and Catholic Charities of Oklahoma City are appreciated. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Epworth Villa and Epworth Villa Hospice for their exceptional care of Charles in his final years.
A rosary prayer service will be held on Wednesday, May 1 at 7:00 pm in the Smith Kernke chapel at 14624 N. May Ave., Oklahoma City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 2, at 11:00 am at St. Eugene Catholic Church, 2400 W. Hefner Rd., Oklahoma City, followed by a graveside service at 3:00 pm at St. Rose of Lima cemetery in Perry, Oklahoma.
