Charles Boone

Charles Daniel Boone "Dan" was welcomed into his heavenly home on January 30, 2026. Born on October 10, 1945, to the late Carl and Louise (Yeager) Boone, he was a small-town country boy to his core. He resided in Laconia, Indiana the majority of his life and was a proud Hoosier.

Dan was an Army veteran stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. He was a retired accountant from Fort Knox Army Base and the Harrison County YMCA. He also served on a variety of boards throughout his life, including the Harrison County REMC, where he was also a former president of the board, and the Old Goshen Cemetery Foundation, where he served as the treasurer. He was a member of the Laconia United Presbyterian Church and served as a former Session member, as well.

Dan enjoyed gardening, yardwork, watching sports, and soaking up the country life while sitting on his porch. He was a devoted family man, none more so than to his loving wife of almost 54 years, Glenda (Burchett) Boone, who preceded him in death. Others waiting for him at heaven's gate include his son Jeffrey Boone, his brother Robert Boone, and brothers-in-law Henry Burchett, RC Stambaugh, and John Pelphrey.

His legacy will live on through his cherished daughter Cortnai Boone, his loyal daughter-in-law Nicole Boone, and his adventuresome sidekick – his granddaughter Ashtyn Boone. Other surviving family members include his sisters-in-law Carol Boone, Bernice Stambaugh, Eunice Pelphrey, Frecia (George) Spriggs, Anita (Charlie) McMonigle, Sue (Bill) Robinson, his brother-in-law Carroll (Carolyn) Burchett, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon, Indiana. Burial will follow at Old Goshen Cemetery in Laconia, Indiana. Pastors, Heather Theissen, Molly Atkinson and Tom Jones will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1 PM to 7 PM Friday, February 6, 2026, and again on Saturday from 9 AM until the service at 11 AM also at the funeral home in Corydon, IN.

In lieu of memorial items and flowers, his family suggests expressions of sympathy be given to Old Goshen Cemetery Foundation c/o Cortnai Boone or to aid his granddaughter Ashtyn in her future education c/o Nicole Boone.
