Charles Brown Obituary

Charles F. Brown, 93, of Cranberry Township, formerly a longtime resident of Crafton Borough, passed away Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, while under the care of Sherwood Oaks.
Born May 3, 1932, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Violet (Fritzley) Brown.
Charlie was a man of many talents, deep faith and enduring passions. As a young man, he developed a love for tinkering with cars and learned his mechanical skills from his father.
A proud veteran, Charlie served his country during the Korean War as a chemist, reflecting both his sharp mind and strong sense of duty.
Music was a lifelong joy for Charlie. A talented trumpet player with a fondness for big band and Dixieland music, he performed with the Melody Kings and After Six, and played in the Ringold Marching Band with his first wife, Betty, and his son, Ed.
A man of faith, Charlie found comfort and strength in reading his Bible. In his later years, he and his wife, Marilyn, enjoyed an active social life at Sherwood Oaks, where he was known for his friendships, corny jokes and easy conversation - often saying, "I was Chuck until that darn cartoon came out!"
He will be remembered for his kindness, devotion to family and the joy he found in music, mechanics, faith and friendship.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Marilyn (Mohr) Brown, whom he married March 18, 2000; his children, Janet E. Brown, Terry L. Brown and Edward C. (Katherine Kay) Brown; Marilyn's children, Kathleen Clark, Frank (Denise) Krepp, Karen (fiancé, Mike) Krepp and Stephen (Janice) Krepp; his grandchildren, Aleks Brown, Alexandra (Niko) Iacono and Michael Brown; and his brothers, James and Allen Brown.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty M. Brown, who passed away in 1997; and his brothers, Robert and Howard Brown.
BROWN - Private arrangements and burial for Charles F. Brown, who died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, were entrusted to BOYLAN-GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township.
A memorial service will be held at a later date by the family at Sherwood Oaks.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his honor to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675, or to World Vision, P.O. Box 70359, Tacoma, WA 98481.

My condolences to all of Charlie's family for your loss. He was a real original. He was a friend and a fellow trumpet player. Just spoke to him recently and he said he wasn't doing great. I couldn't always reach him in the recent past but we have always stayed in touch since he retired for the Ringold Band. I will miss his great sense of humor. Laura Hanlon 412-215-9346
