Charles Edward Charlton, age 80 of Coaling, passed away July 29, 2023 at home. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Thomas Chapel Cemetery (Coaling Cemetery) with Rev. Ray Hallman officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30am at Magnolia Chapel South.
He is preceded in death by his wife Lillian Charlton, father; Frank Charlton, mother; Marta Lou Charlton, brothers; Danny and Frank jr. Charlton, sisters; Sarah J. Lunsford and Jessie L. Bennett.
Survivors include his daughter; Melissa Medders(Kiley), sons: Shane Charlton(April), Shawn Myers, brother; Richard Charlton, grandchildren; Tyler Blackmon(Kaelyn), Hunter and Holden Blackmon. Hannah Blackmon, Landyn Barnes, Taylor Myers( Taylor), Brandon Myers(Baylee) Mille and Everleigh Myers. Emily Myers, Sarah Myers, Chris Charlton, Haley Charlton, Brynn Medders.
Charles was born in Mobile, Alabama in 1942. He grew up in Mississippi, later moving to Alabama. He ended up meeting his high school sweetheart, Lillian in Coaling, Alabama, Where they eventually got married and started a family. He was a welder for 40 years and he loved what he did. He loved spending his time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. Pawpaw was the name everyone knew him as. He loved growing watermelons in the summer and riding his four wheeler.
Pallbearers will be Shane Charlton, Chris Charlton, Shawn Myers, Tyler Blackmon, Larry Mitchell Thomas, Taylor Myers. Honorary pallbearers are Amedysis Home Health; Kim and Amedysis Hospice; Leigh, Hunter, and Tasha.
