Charles Conrad Carrigan passed away on December 27, 2023, at his home in Beebe, AR, at the age of 87. He was born on May 20, 1936, in Beebe, AR, to George and Dora (Evatt) Carrigan, the youngest child, with two older sisters, the late Mary Wanda Davis, and Naomi Noble of Beebe.
Conrad graduated from Beebe High School in 1954, and completed an Associates Degree at ASU Beebe in 1956. He continued his studies at Bethany Nazarene College studying religion and ministry, and completed a Bachelor of Theology in 1958. On July 6, 1962, he married E. Ann Sears, and they had 2 children: Charles W. Carrigan & Rhonda A. Merrick. Conrad continued his academic studies to prepare for the ministry, and graduated from Nazarene Theological Seminary in 1966 with a Masters of Theology.
Throughout his ministry, he pastored churches in west Texas, Austin, TX, San Antonio, TX, Sikeston, MO, and Glasgow, KY. He then served as an associate pastor in Bremerton, WA, for several years. In 1986, he moved back to his hometown and worked for Combined Insurance Company of America, and helped with caring for his aging mother for some years. He met Leona Carter Koontz at his hometown church, Beebe First Church of the Nazarene. They were married there in August of 2002. That fall he answered a call to the Corning Church of the Nazarene, which he pastored until retiring in 2010, at which time he and Leona retired again and returned to Beebe.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Leona; his loving two children; son-in-law Andrew Merrick and daughter-in-law Dana Carrigan; grandchildren Emma (Jon), Gwen, Tegan, Carly, Julia, Brianna, John Paul, Auriella, and Corinne; sister Naomi; stepsons Andy Carter, Michael Carter, Lewis Carter, Lynne Eagle Graham (Pat); and many dear nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2023, at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, 404 W. Dewitt Henry Dr., Beebe, AR. Open viewing will be 2:00-2:30 p.m. Saturday, with funeral service to follow at 2:30 p.m. at First Church of the Nazarene, Beebe. Burial will be in Beebe Cemetery.
