Heike, I hope you realize how special Alex was to so many people. I first met Alex when I went to Germany to deliver aircraft. I made a big mistake and let them fly off without signing paperwork to accept the helicopters. Alex teased me about it but he hung around until I found my way to him, well after business hours, so I wouldn't get in trouble. When I told Alex I was moving to Huntsville he couldn't wait to show me around. I don't know if he ever forgave me for moving to Madison instead of Huntsville. The way you both opened your home to me really meant so much. I'm going to miss getting Facebook messages and jokes from him but I feel so lucky that I got to know him and call him my friend. Prost Alex, until we meet again!

Charles was a great mentor to me as well as a close friend. I am sad to know that he is no longer with us and I will miss his messages. I remember when I arrived at Giebelstadt AAF in 1993. I was a CW2 and Served as the Service Platoon Aviation Maintenance Tech. Alex was the first CW4 to take me under his wing and show me what being a true Warrant Officer is all about. I will always remember the Maintenance Test Flights he an I would go on together and how he taught me the capabilities of the OH-58D. He was an excellent Test Pilot and all I can say is Thank You Alex. I know you are soaring above us and you will always protect us.
