RUTLAND- Joseph James Covell Jr., 62, of Rutland died Monday August 18, 2025 at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.
He was born on Feb 2, 1963 in Rutland the son of Joseph, Sr. and Gloria (Vigario) Covell.
Joseph grew up in Pittsford and attended Otter Valley Union High School.
He was a roofer and carpenter in the Rutland area for many years.
Throughout his life Joseph enjoyed listening to music and 'gardening' and loved his cat named "Balls" that departed years prior. His favorite song verse was "God is great, Beer is good & People are crazy!".
Survivors include a son Joshua J. Covell & his partner Diane Bigelow of Rutland, his mother Gloria Covell of Rutland, 3 sisters Mary Morsey & her husband Chase of Plymouth, Maggie Cloutier & her husband Rick of Vergennes, and Gina Brown & her fiance Chris Cardona of Alford, FL, several aunts including Linda Fitzgibbon (a.k.a Nanny) who was like a second mother, uncles, nieces, nephews and many cousins including Andy who was more like a brother.
He was predeceased by his father on Dec 24, 2004.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with the Aldous Funeral Home.
