MAYSVILLE — Charles "Charlie" Arthur Cropper, age 75, left this world on Nov. 29, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Charlie was born on July 29, 1950, to William Clyde Cropper and Anna Gertrude (Vincent) Cropper, and his life was marked by hard work, loyalty, humor, a love of farming and a deep love for those he held closest.
Charlie is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Brenda (Sweeney) Cropper, his sister Ruth Ann (Kenny) Ross; sister-in-law, Mary Katherine Richie Cropper, and a blended and loving family who brought him great joy. He leaves behind two stepchildren, Brandi (Pat) Gary Irvine Ky. and Ivy Michelle Garrison of Mayslick as well as his step-grandchildren Jonathan Garrison of Maysville, Kyra Parker of Alexandria Ky., Brendan Markel Garrison of Maysville, Isaiah Garrison and Danielle Bennington of Mayslick, and his cherished great-grandson, Rainen Thomas Garrison
Charlie also treasured the people he considered "family of the heart." Among them is Jason Gifford, the son of his heart. Jerry Smith, his long-time right-hand man and a loyal, steadfast friend throughout the years.
He is preceded in death by his beloved son, Charles David Cropper, his daughter Christy Cropper, his first wife Brenda Christine (Jett) Cropper, his brother William "Buddy" Cropper, and his sister Betty (Pete) Cropper Bussell. Charlie leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who will remember him with love, laughter, and gratitude for the impact he made in their lives.
Charlie will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him, but the stories, lessons, and love he shared will live on in those who carry his memory.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. on Thursday at Shannon Global Methodist Church. Burial will be at Shannon Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home in Maysville.
Memorials may be made to Shannon Cemetery.
