Charles Davidson
Born: January 4, 1937
Died: January 3, 2026
Charles Edward Davidson, 88, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at the Serenity Hospice Home in Oregon, with his family at his side. He was born on January 4, 1937 in Popular Bluff, MO, the son of Edward and Alta (Head) Davidson. He married Betty Jean Meserole on September 24, 1960 in Rochelle. She preceded him on August 16, 2017.
Charles worked at Rochelle Vault for close to 40 years as a backhoe operator before retiring. He enjoyed tinkering with little projects and watching his grandchildren participate in sports. Preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Bruce Davidson and 9 siblings. He was the last of his brothers and sisters to pass.
Charles is survived by his children, Lisa Wedig of Mount Morris, Chuck (Diana) Davidson of Stillman Valley; daughter-in-law, Kim Davidson of Rochelle; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric) Speakes, Jacob (Megan) Wedig, Luke (Devin) Davidson, Cole Davidson (fiancé Kylee Muraira), Evan Davidson and Taylor Davidson; 6 great grandchildren, Brycen, Bradley, Beau, Brandon Wedig, Harper Speakes and Briley Davidson. The family would like to thank Lanet Erickson for the excellent care she gave our dad.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle with Pastor David Rogula officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 A.M.- 10:50 A.M. prior to the funeral. Cremation care will be accorded after the services. Interment will be private.
