David Lee Davidson, 87, of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away on February 11, 2026, after a valiant battle with leukemia.
David grew up in Louisville, where he enjoyed playing baseball with neighborhood friends and spending time with the cocker spaniels bred by his parents—sparking a lifelong love of man’s best friend.
David was called to service in the United States Army in 1961. It was during this time that he met the “prettiest girl in the room,” who became his rock and strength for 62 years. David and Guadalupe “Lou” Garcia were married in September 1963, and together they raised three children, who were the light of David’s life.
David spent his career in sales, where his easygoing nature served him well. In his free time, he enjoyed classic cars, pitching horseshoes, bowling, playing cards, and cheering on the Indiana Pacers and Indianapolis Colts.
Surviving with his bride are his children: Darrin (Shelly) Davidson, Diahanna (Tom Gowen) Davidson, and Dawn (Lee Vaughn) Davidson; and his grandson, Isaac (Elizabeth Romanov) Davidson. David was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Lilly Davidson, and sister, Doris Bertram.
Visitation is Wednesday, February 18, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Indiana Funeral Care, 2433 Main Street, Greenwood. A special message of remembrance will commence at 2:30 p.m.
A firm believer in the importance of education, David took great pride in attending the college graduations of all his children and his grandson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Davidson Endowed Scholarship for Mechanical Engineering at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, which benefits students in need (please notate “Davidson Scholarship” with your donation), or to the Leukemia Research Foundation.
