Charles Gregory "Greg" Davis, age 72, of Canton, Georgia, passed away on August 27, 2025. Greg was preceded in death by his beloved parents, William "Billy" Davis and Betty Owens Davis. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sandra Carrio Oates Davis; his children, Matthew Oates (Brian Winslow), Patrick Oates, and Carrie Baker (Jeff); his cherished grandchildren, Jacob, Carly, River, and Charlie; his brother, Glenn Davis (Karen); and many loving in-laws, nieces, and nephews. A faithful member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Greg lived a life rooted in service, education, and community. He graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering, later earning a Master of Business Administration from the University of South Alabama. Greg worked for Scott Paper Company (acquired by Kimberly-Clark) for most of his career. He also served his country as a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves. Greg was a proud brother of the Bill George Beta Psi Chapter of Sigma Chi Fraternity at Georgia Tech, and at the time of his passing, was serving as President of the Beta Psi Foundation, a role he held proudly and an organization that held deep personal meaning. The Foundation provides leadership training for all Sigma Chi brothers and awards scholarships to deserving applicants. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus and a passionate supporter of Georgia Tech athletics. A lifelong golfer and longtime member of Woodmont Country Club, Greg was happiest on the golf course or working in the yard. Born in Augusta, Georgia, he proudly attended the Masters Tournament at Augusta National for more than 60 years. In retirement, Greg found great fulfillment in substitute teaching at Cambridge High School, especially in the Math Department. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, planning family gatherings, cheering on Georgia Tech football and basketball, and, most of all, watching his grandchildren excel in their sports. Greg loved deeply, lived fully, and will be missed beyond measure. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 15, 2025, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 535 Rucker Road, Alpharetta, GA 30004. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Beta Psi Foundation at www.betapsi.org/Donate.

Greg was a dedicated work colleague and a great friend - we first worked together when he became a client during his time at Scott Paper HQ in Philadelphia, and later as a teammate when we both worked at Kimberly-Clark's offices in Roswell. Greg had engineering process and quality in his soul - always one to uphold a high bar and ensure things were done the right way. I remember him giving me an impassioned lecture-lesson about the role of specifications, the value of quality to our brand name, the slippery slope that can compromise culture. His delivery obviously stuck with me, and those principles became bedrock throughout my life. Outside the office we became close friends enjoying golf outings, dinners and other social occasions with our wives where his warmth, hospitality and sense of humor were always on full display. Ever the avid golfer and golf enthusiast, he graciously hosted me at The Masters a number of times, each time sharing unique insights about the venue and the tournament - from a particular spot to best see the action to a particular spot where Nicklaus, Mickelson or Woods executed some miracle. He was a true historian of that amazing event. I will certainly miss Greg in a lot of ways - his loyal friendship, his reassuring smile, his hearty laugh, his southern accent...especially him saying "All y'all." While his passing is untimely and very sad indeed, I will take some comfort reflecting on the many good times we spent together, appreciating the trove of wisdom I learned from him, and being forever grateful that I had the opportunity to enjoy a very worthy friendship with a man of his caliber. -Doug Sutton

I will miss my good friend Greg Davis. It was my pleasure to play many rounds of golf with Greg over the years. We had a trip exchange agreement for over 20 years as well - I was his guest at Augusta National for the Masters and he was my guest at Pine Valley. He was an outstanding friend and offered me and my late wife Pam so much support as she battled Pancreatic Cancer in 2019 and after her passing in 2020. Our work lives were mixed together at Scott Paper Co / Kimberly Clark as well as at EIS Inc. which was part of GPC here in Atlanta. Greg left a legacy of goodwill and good memories among his many friends, and we are all saddened by his passing.
